Dear Sirs,

Amendments to the GEM Listing Rules in connection with the Appointment of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEC”) as an Ex Officio Member of the GEM Listing Committee

Amendments have been made in Chapters 3 and 4 of the GEM Listing Rules which provide, among other things, for the Chief Executive of HKEC to be an ex officio member of the GEM Listing Committee and, in his absence or if he so directs in any particular case, the Chief Executive of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited to act as his alternate.

These rule changes come into effect on 24 July 2000. Re-printed pages of the GEM Listing Rules together with the filing instructions are enclosed.
